I recently ran fort Ranik for a friend and by then end of the mission i had well over 75 Charr following me, some of which had been following all the way from the, and i was using 33% speed boosts. I used to think that run was super easy but now i cant seem to break the agro and so i end up getting totally mobed near the end and given no time to heal urself up (well as a Ranger anyways, W would take less physical damage so they wouldnt need to heal as often) Luckily i managed to do it 2nd attempt after haveing a shocking death on the 1st attempt since i had only dodge, troll and storm chaser equiped
I ended upwith life syphon on me the entre way around the map, getting hit with endless numbers of energy burns and the occasional flare etc. i did notice a few of the mobs did drop away but i think this was more due the fact there was so many following me they kept blocking each other and getting stuck.

think thats bad? this new AI totally humilated me. I was running some guys from piken to courthouse, and on the way i ran into 3 of those smiting charr...they never stopped chasing me and somehow kept up with my sprint/charge combo. and they killed me. with 30 dmg banish/bane sig, they slowly took out all 580 of my hp over like 3 min. if i stopped to heal they would outdamage my 130heal sig. so i died, respawned, and slowly killed them with lvl 10 axe mastery, and finished the run. anyone else seen stuff like that? lol

it seems like the AI's aggro circle has been greatly increased. maybe to full radar range. how close were they when they hit you?

Now what happens when a person with Droknar's takes a person in his team that doesn't have it? Gate will be open, NPC bypassed.

I couldn't find any runner to Dorknar about a week ago so I went all the way around with my necro. DO YOU KNOW how fun it is to beat you double? Cultist's Fervor with 0 in blood . Actually the last time I got ascended was like a year ago, so I find it refreshing...

Actually even in NF your full team has to have done certain things to unlock missions, it could work the same. HOWEVER you could still get into War Camp and then take the tour around to Copperhammer and from there work your way down. Someone will always find a way around it, it'll just cost more.
---------------------------------
And yes some mobs DO follow forever. I had a single monk baddie follow me from Zone A to Zone B and it was a pretty large zone, plus I had speed boosts... Even when he went off my map and i thought he was gone he would just come running! He didn't attack, but the bastard didn't heal me either! And I don't let pugs along unless they do their jobs! >_>
Fact is, not everyone is experiencing these things and to me that smells very distinctly like a bug!
Ya know...
the smelly type

I have to chime in and say I did this (droks runs), first trip with 3 guildies/heroes. We fought all the way to Droks from Beacons. Sometimes a few guildies died but we would just get to the next portal and bring them back. It can be done, and I'm no runner etc, just got bored and tried it. (ok so between heroes and guildies we had 6 monks lol )

There's another way down there other than Lornar's pass?
Even if it's longer, what's the general gist of it so I can send my characters through ti?

"There's another way down there other than Lornar's pass?"

I seriously don't know how its affecting runners but the INSANE Monster AI does affect regular players who are out trying to do missions, Cap Elite Skills, Clear their maps, and just general exploring. I am particullary talking about the areas you all are discussing: the Shiverpeak Mountains surrounding Droknars Forge.
Last night I was clearing out some desert maps that I didn't clear before and was having no problems at all really. I was fighting everything with my Ele and some heroes and henchs. I wasn't running the areas at all.
I finish in the desert and go up to clear the Ice Floe and immediately started seeing some weird AI behavior like discussed here. After much effort and deaths and much cussing I got it cleared.
Next stop, Lornar's Pass. Wow, what a joke this area has become. Its completely unexplorable (for me) if you come from Beacon's and try to do it with heroes and the low lvl henchs there. (It may be doable with 2 people and their heroes, I don't know).
Point is, The monster AI was crazy. I was like "what the hell is going on here?". I made it a bit into the map going to the east of the Portal cause I need to clear the map. I run into Seige Golems and am taking care of them when out of no where the Avicara come running straight at me...they were not even visible on the radar map, but they sure knew where I was. They wipe me out and I rez back at the portal. I take 2 steps and WHAT?!?! Here comes that mob of Avicara straight at me from way aways. I take off running the other direction and they turn and follow me. GG
If its like this in all the maps of the mountains....well what is the fricking point of even trying to go into these areas to explore and Cap Skills?

That coupled with the auto target of monks, makes the game less and less enjoyable. When the entire mob constantly goes after your monk each battle and kills it via their overpowered skills, and the inability to use res or rebirth. I guess the game will slowly become nothing more than a few kids talking in shorthand while GW wonders where everyone went.

LOL well I don't know if its THAT bad yet but it is aggrevating. But it onlly seems to be like this in the Mountains! Like I said, I didn't have any terrible difficultys fighting in the desert. Heck, even the Pertified Forest in Factions with the insane Dredge are a calkwalk compared to the Shiverpeaks lately.
*shrugs* whats and explorer to do?

arcady the other way is to get run straight from LA all the way to Sanctum and then do the missions, beat your dopple, dragon's lair, and then droks.
beanerman_99 yeah its the worst in the mountain area for sure. There are certain areas of NF where its just as bad tho. What gets me is that there are people who haven't experienced these things and thusly think we are whining about the "improved" AI... No we are annoyed because its "buggy" AI.. Even I can understand the point of making them go for monks first, its what most "normal" thinking people/groups would do. But "chasing" AI.... AI that doesn't lose agro with speed boosts, agro that comes at you from no where, not even line of sight! Kiting for the hills before even being attacked? Seriously I know of no one even in pvp that kites as soon as the enemy starts charging the "group" They run when the enemy comes at them personally yes, but before o_O;;; I dun think so bob. That's buggy...

The one thing makes me curious is.. why is there a door leading from Beacon's Perch into Lornar's Pass in the first place? For what reason is that way even open? If A-Net hates runners so much they screw up the entire AI in the area (and yeah, I'm talking about "follow forever" and "aggro for no reason") why don't they simply close the exit from Beacon's? Problem solved?
To me, there's no logical reason for Lornar's Pass to exist at all.. other than as a "shortcut" to Droknar's Forge. A pointless shortcut.
I mean.. Those that want to use it don't have an armor that's even close to being good enough to get through the Pass, a 6 ppl party is a joke in that area, the average level of a person (even if they worked their way there) is way too low for the lvl 24 mobs, and the level 10 henchmen.. don't even get me started.
The people that have the equipment needed for travelling the Pass, have already been to the end of it, and hence have no real reason for using that way (other than exploring it). So, why does it even exist?
It just bugs me..
